Saltwater systems create chlorine thru electrolysis. These systems also create high levels of calcium which can build up on components in the pool/spa including the spa filter. It is highly recommended that filters in a saltwater pool/spa be chemically cleaned every 30 days to prevent the calcium build up from impeding flow thru the filter.
